Long Island City-bound trains skipping Greenpoint Ave for the entire month of March
The L Train shutdown may be cancelled, but the headaches continue. Now on the G line. The good news is the MTA is improving accessibility with three new elevators at Greenpoint Avenue. The bad news is there will be no northbound trains at the station for the entire month of March.
Beginning at 10 p.m. on Friday March 1, northbound G trains will not stop at the station, as MTA construction crews will be requiring around-the-clock access to the station’s track and platform for an elevator, ADA project already in the works since September. The station is set to have three new elevators once the project wraps up.
The change in G train service due to the ADA project will end one month later at 5 a.m. on April 1. Southbound service will continue as normal during this time.
Riders will be able to access the station, however, by riding the G to 21st Street in Long Island City, and then back on a southbound train to Greenpoint Avenue.
G train riders will also be impacted by a separate flood prevention project at the Flushing Avenue station. Beginning at 12:01 a.m. on March 4, southbound trains will skip the Flushing Avenue station for four weeks, with service to resume on Monday, April 1 at 5:00 a.m.
