Apple computer, the computing tool of the wealthy, the creative, pseudo technically enabled and the completely technically challenged.
In NYC you have a number of options when it comes to both visitings an Apple store to speak with a “genius” or getting some hardware/software retail from our resident Apple shop.
If you have an Apple hardware problem and you find yourself in the city and you also find yourself with a iMac or Macbook or Macbook Pro that is considered by Apple to be “vintage” or otherwise 4 years old, you should call (212) 924-MIKE (6453) or visit Mikes Tech Shop. In this author’s experience, Mike’s is like the genius bar where many of these guys used to work there. They do pretty much the same thing as Apple without the berating “vintage” description assigned to your computer hardware. In defense of Apple Computer’s geniuses, they’re probably doing you a favor telling you to shell out for the latest model. Mike’s will fix it but you’ll be throwing money as an old Apple.

Here’s the list of Apple Stores with “genius” contained in a “bar” designed to help you. Actually, they’re really trained monkeys following specific manufacturing and quality guidelines and quite frankly can’t really help you with anything serious other then to tell you “your device is vintage (sir/madam) and honestly you need to upgrade and get with the program”
